Like PICKLES? Making pickles is fun, easy, and is a great project for kids! Adults and kids ages 8 and up are invited to learn to prepare and preserve these yummy salty-sour treats! Join Master Food Preserver Bobbie Kramer for a hands-on class. We’ll make wonderful spicy Kosher Dill Quick Pickles and discuss fermented Sour Dill Pickles! Participants will take home the pickles that they’ve helped to make. Kids under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult. All materials are provided.

Wondering what to do with all those those tomatoes? Learn all the basics of water bath canning with Gary and Nancy Leahy and they will walk you through the steps of making and processing salsa, along with sharing other tomato recipes, such as chili sauce, tomato juice, ketchup and tomato sauce. Everyone will go home with their own pint of salsa.

This class will cover how to make handmade bar soap from scratch. Topics will include the chemistry of saponification, natural ways to color and fragrance soap and how to do it all safely. Includes written procedure, recipes and soap to take home. Class is taught by Sellwood Soap Company owner Rachael Gruen. All materials are included.
