This exciting and hands-on class will cover the basics and get you well on your way! The first step is to learn how to safely use and handle caustic lye. Then we will demo the soap making process and discuss colorants, scents, oil properties, lye calculators, pH, curing, trace, and basic techniques for successful soap making. Then with a partner from the class you will make your own small batch of soap to take home with you to cure!  You will leave with a list of basic recipes and a purchase list of everything you need to get started. NOTE: Please wear long sleeves, pants and closed toe shoes to class since we will be working with lye. Taught by Jessie Spain.
