As of September 2017, we closed the doors of our shop. It has been a wonderful six years.
The best part of having the shop was meeting all the amazing folks who know that home is where the best of life happens – where we’re nourished, supported, where we feel safe and comforted. They came to the homestead shop to learn, to try something new (or really old), to meet others who believed the same, or to just find something cool for their home. I’d like to thank all our customers who made it fun to come to work every day.
As I’m sure all of you would agree, we had the best crew of homesteader’s working for us over the last six years. They were gardeners, farmers, makers, and bakers; they raised chickens, sourdoughs, vegetables and SCOBYs. They were knowledgeable and curious and industrious. I’d like to thank all our employees who reminded me everyday why we were doing what we were doing.
And I’d also like to thank my husband, Doug. He was the best support a shop owner could ask for – he painted, cleaned gutters, moved furniture and big boxes, he trimmed hooves and unclogged drains, he covered shifts and took me to the Bottle Shop for a glass of wine at the end of a long week. Thank you, Hon.
Now that the shop is closed, I’m looking forward to taking some time off, doing a little traveling and visiting family. I’m looking forward to decorating for the holidays, cooking ridiculously big meals and having time to bake cookies and be a maker again. My passion is homesteading, so I know I can’t stay away from it forever. What comes next, I’m not sure, but… stay tuned.
